Nikolina Rikert

M.A. RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Fort Langley

My own journey with mental health began when we found out my mom had cancer. Feeling lost and alone, I realized that regardless of the situation, many people go through life feeling similarly and yearn for the desire of connection and being seen by others. I am honored to be present and a part of this journey that we all go through as fellow humans.

I received my M.Ed in Counselling Psychology from SFU and strongly believe in continuing education. I am receiving additional training in trauma-informed practice, couples therapy and other modalities. I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples from my time at the Surrey Anti-Gang and Family Empowerment Program.

Being a part of people’s healing journeys is sacred to me and I strongly believe that the care, empathy, and compassion I bring to my clients makes all the difference in developing our counselling relationship and helping you achieve your desired outcomes. Our time together is you leading the way, with me along for the ride as we navigate the challenges of life and experience growth and healing.

I like to take a collaborative and experiential stance.  We focus on your needs, while we work on increasing your capacity to sit with emotions, explore them and understand how they impact your body. I believe that counselling is a chance for you to have a voice, speak freely and to build a trusting, safe relationship, with not just me, but other people in your life. Meeting you where you are at in your journey is a strong value I hold, and so in collaboration, we can explore an approach that works best for you.
