From the beginning, we are given a specific set of skills. Our environment and biology continue to shape us as we are faced with unique challenges. Throughout our development we learn that living in this world is no easy task. The skills that we have or acquired aren’t working the way we had hoped. It is in this moment that we can feel lost and alone. My hope is to create a space for everyone to explore these experiences and acquire new skills to help them face life’s challenges. It is through this that we build resilience and are able to reach our goals.

I completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Counselling at Trinity Western University where I knew that I was passionate about helping people. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work at Child and Youth Mental Health and gained a deeper understanding of the variety of mental illnesses that our children and youth face today.

Currently, I work in schools where my main role is to support staff and students in understanding mental health and the various crises that they experience. Moving into the counselling setting, my goal is to walk alongside the individual and create a space for them to feel heard, seen, and cared for. I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is influential in the process of healing.

Throughout the years in my practice, I continue to pursue specialized training to develop my expertise in supporting individuals and building resilience. This allows me to have a wide variety of skills to specialize the treatment and meet the needs of the client. My approach to counselling is influenced by this training, which includes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals and find myself energized when working with children, youth, and young adults from all walks of life.
