This three-part series aims to open our minds and expand our appreciation for creating wellness and well-being in our lives amidst all the trauma and uncertainty of a pandemic stricken world. Each of the three presenters will bring their unique perspectives on the current state of the world and ways in which we can make meaning and find healing. A small breakout group discussion will follow the presentation led by one of Shoreline’s Clinical Counsellors. This series is free of charge and will take place on Zoom.
Presenters:
Dr. Alexandra Perel-Winkler is an Integrative Medicine practitioner with a background in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology and Functional Medicine. She weaves her studies of traditional and natural healing with her scientific background to support people on their healing journeys. She currently works out of CHANGEpain clinic where she helps people understand and manage complex chronic disease and complex pain conditions.
Dr. Taylor Bean is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor located in Maple Ridge, BC, Canada. She has experience working largely with families, young ones and mamas-to-be.
Dr. Lara Aknin is a Distinguished Associate Professor of Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Aknin’s research focuses on the antecedents and consequences of happiness and prosocial behavior and most of her work examines how generous behaviour makes people feel. Her research has been published in various academic journals, including Science, Nature Human Behaviour, the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Social Psychological and Personality Science and Perspectives on Psychological Science, and has been covered in international media outlets such as the CBC, CNN, Maclean’s Magazine, Forbes, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
